NEWS

11.28.11 This week, NADA Miami with INVISIBLE-EXPORTS, Booth 500. December 1-4.

A little disappointed I won't make it to the fairs this year, but at least it is 60+ in NYC today.

10.25.11 Unfortunately Benjamin and I never made it to the opening of Bibliomania in Summit, NJ. Trapped in gridlock for nearly two hours trying to get into the Holland Tunnel on a Friday afternoon, we finally threw in the towel after traveling only 9 blocks. There are a few things I won't miss about New York... Hoping to still see the show whlle it is up, the space is lovely!

9.28.11 Thanks to everyone at Land of Tomorrow for helping install six tons of books (about 3500) in time for the Tell You What opening. A second opening in conjunction with the Louisville Biennial will be Friday, October 7.

6.1.11 No matter how much we all love to hate it, never underestimate the power of facebook. A photo editor learned of my work through Flak Photo's network on facebook and WALA! June issue. Over one million copies distributed.

5.1.11 Stopped into the JCrew store on Fifth Avenue last weekend and look what my man spotted! Nice selection of 20x200.com work throughout the store, especially in the kids section. Refreshing to see a chain displaying original work!

3.31.11 It's fittingly stormy and cold in New York today. I'm tucked inside at my desk, one eye on my inbox, anticipating the release of Untitled No.4 (Equivalents) with the Aperture Foundation Limited-Edition print program. Working with Aperture fulfills a bit of the dream.

2.1.11 Watch your mailbox (not your inbox!) in February for a new collaboration with the one and only John Lamb for Abe's Penny. If you missed it, you can order the backissue online.

11.16.10 ARTINFO and ARTLOG feature the Believe You Me exhibition at IE:

10.10.10 The Last Magazine, Issue No.5

6.24.10 Americans for the Arts has selected my first major public artwork for the 2010 Year in Review. Curators Helen Lessik and Fred Wilson reviewed over 300 applications (I had no idea mine was submitted, thanks Florida!) and 40 projects were selected. For more information, check out the press release.

3.1.10 If you make it to VOLTA, be sure to ask Ben and Risa to see the new Forever Govern Ignorance portfolio. This little project has been in the making for ages, and I've finally settled on just a handfull of images. The photographs are of microfiche found in Federal Depository Libraries over the years.

2.27.10 By some small miracle a new installation will go up this week at VOLTA NY. The one thing I didn't realize I had so much of before Azza arrived... Time. (What I wouldn't do for that much time again?) Very excited to be in the show. If you haven't been, each of the 80 booths are solo and there are some great artists showing this year. I'll be around so please stop by to say hello!

10.27.09 Come out tonight to the new ESOPUS Space to celebrate the launch of Issue #13. Many thanks to Tod Lippy for the opportunity to create an Artist Project for the fall issue... Included in the project is a 16x20 inch poster of the BLOOD Collocation.

9.28.09 A busy week ahead... IE will be installing the TODAY Collocation at P.S.1 for The New York Book Art Fair and a new Collocation will launch on 20x200.com Thursday at 2PM ET. (Be sure to check it out right away, the smalls sold out in 20 minutes last year!)

8.04.09 The package has arrived.

2.03.09 Many thanks to the Lower Manhattan Cutural Council and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs for awarding Mickey a 2009 Manhattan Community Arts Fund grant for a public art project that will take place in the Lower East Side this fall.

11.14.08 Mickey will be an artist in residence with the Red Gate Residency program in Beijing, China for the month of September 2010.

10.22.08 The University of Florida's Art in State Buildings program has commissioned Mickey to install a major glass Collocation of NATURE in their new Biomedical Sciences Building, opening July of 2009.

10.01.08 Invisible-Exports now represents my work in New York. I can't say enough about Ben, Risa, their street level space in the Lower East Side, and my first New York solo show, You People, opening November 14.

8.20.08 The August issue of DETAILS magazine published a few of the Volume images to accompany a lovely piece by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Michael Chabon.

7.15.08 Did I mention we moved from Minneapolis to New York? In April? In an effort to keep up with news from the studio and share random images of interest, I'm attempting to blog... (Which is why the link is buried here.)

7.01.08 Thanks to The Webmomster, a Volume theme can now be downloaded at iGoogle. To use it on your search page, follow the instructions here. I'll write a bit more about the irony of this marriage and the Atlantic Google Stoopid article on the new blog.

4.14.08 Images from Believe You Me and BLOOD have been selected for Booksmart Studio's Circulation exhibition, The show opens in the new Gallery Kunstler June 6th in Rochester, New York. Also today check out the mnartists.org aE Issue 28.1.

2.15.08 Thank you to the anonymous curatorial angel for the Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers nomination. It was an honor to be nominated. Congratulations to the 2008 winner, Mike Brodie.

12.31.07 The QuarterAcreLifestyle debut CD has been awarded Best Album Photography by the Independent Music Awards! If you don't have a copy of it (or the new album) you can get one at CDBaby.

11.14.07 It's not good to refer to one's work as cheap. Maybe affordable or accessible is more palatable... Either way, I love what Jen Bekman is doing at 20x200.com. Today WORD STUDY goes on sale exclusively for $20, $200, or $2000. Make no mistake, these are not posters! Thankfully we were able to get Eric Recktenwald to print the entire edition.

10.02.07 Over the last month we've noticed a huge increase in site traffic due to blogs like Flak Photo, mnartists.org, DesignNotes, and userslib.com. Thanks to all for posting the work online!

8.24 .07 I'm often asked if I photograph anything but books. (Eh?) Below is the latest for internationally renowned kiwi band, QuarterAcreLifestyle. I'll be posting a daily photoblog from the NZ07 tour starting November 19 at http://quarteracrelifestyle.blogspot.com/.

Aaron + Cameron Pollock of QuarterAcreLifestyle.

5.14.07 The Magenta Foundation announced their Flash Forward 2007 winners last week. Mickey received an honorable mention for US Emerging Photographers. (Good thing we applied this year because they only consider those 34 and under...)
